Sassy Announcement

Hello Sassy ladies!

We have some new and exciting news that we think you will all be thrilled with. First of all we lost another team member due to a job promotion. So things have gotten very difficult around here. I was so sad to see her go, but am proud of her achievements and wish her all the success she deserves.

Now for some super secret information about Sassy. When we first started this company we hired Lauren Sheahan at LaurEss to help us develop our formulas. Lauren is also a Green Bay resident so we had tons of fun brainstorming and creating the Sassy product line. When Lauren heard about the troubles we have been having, she offered to purchase Sassy Minerals to keep the products available and to expand and broaden the line. After much discussion we have come to an agreement and are proud to announce that LaurEss is now our parent company. We know that under Lauren’s watch Sassy will become the wonderful and exciting company we envisioned from the beginning. She has already developed several products for us that will be released in the next few weeks.

But first!

We are moving! Over the next two weeks LaurEss and Sassy will be joining forces in a new facility. The new facility is gorgeous and fresh and has so much more room than our little space. Plus it is an upgrade from where LaurEss is currently located. Lauren has spent the last two weeks painting and prepping for all the new products and equipment coming her way and I know the new area will allow for better efficiencies and faster shipping times.

I know change can be scary, but as I said, Lauren has put a lot into our company already and she will not be changing what has made us so popular, however she will be making many improvements that we think you will love. So stay tuned for new and exciting updates and keep on being Sassy!

Happy New year!

We are sure many of you have already found our new Concealer Foundation and Incognita on the website. We have received several questions about these products. The Concealer Foundation can be used as either a foundation or a concealer. While the Incognita is similar to other companies "multitasking" concealers. The Incognita will disguise imperfections but is not as heavy coverage as our Concealer Foundation. This is why we created a "Touch Up" category. These products can be used to tweak and touch up your total look.

We are still working hard to find a new method to display our products online to better represent their intensity and interference. Look for new pictures to arrive in the new year that, we hope, will show the colors better.

One thing we are sad to announce is the departure of one of our team members. Due to this unexpected change we have been very slow to release new items and we did fall behind in our e-mails as well and we sincerely apologize for these occurrences. Each and every one of you matters to us and we appreciate you all so much. We never want you to feel neglected or bored with Sassy. We hope to do a better job from here on out with our customer relations.

On the business side of things we are going to have to make a few changes as well. We sat down with our accountant and did some calculations and discovered, to our dismay, that every sample we make costs us 95 cents to produce, while we are selling them for 75 cents. To add to this, we have been shipping many packages containing 70+ samples to international destinations using the free shipping option and it is costing us around $36 per shipment. So not only are we losing money on every sample, we are paying a lot in shipping costs. Because of this problem, we have changed our international free shipping option to orders over $75. On top of that, we are going to have to raise our sample prices. While this pains us to do, we have to be able to make some money on them. We will be raising the sample prices to $1.00 after the New Year. We are so sorry for this inconvenience and hope you will all understand our dilemma. However, we will not be raising the prices of our full sizes.

Just as a teaser for you, some of our new products that will be released soon are pure white and pure black eyeliners, new eyeshadows, including one we think will rival Gasoline Rainbow as a best seller, and Taboo eyeliner is getting a makeover to be more taboo with an increase in shimmer and sparkle since we find it is a little bland and doesn't live up to it's name right now. On the development agenda we also have more Incognita colors as well as those darn pesky lipglosses we have not finalized yet, a new bronzer, some more blushes, and many more ideas that we hope to bring to reality very soon.

Well, this is embarrassing!

We have been getting an unusually high amount of e-mails from people who are not receiving their confirmation e-mails at all. Apparently, when we switched hosting last month we messed up a setting. This also means we have not received ANY e-mails sent through the form on our site (we are so embarrassed about that)! We are trying to get this fixed but are in limbo as we wait for an answer from our host, I am sure it will be here any second, seeing as it is Saturday, hmmm, maybe it will be longer then a second.

Either way, it should be fixed very soon, so please stop filing Paypal disputes, we promise we have not disappeared with your money and even though you are not receiving e-mails, we are receiving your orders and they are going out on time. As of today, we have shipped all orders through July 8th.

Major Breakthrough!

We are so excited today! We just had a major breakthrough with our concealer formula! Although we thought we had completed this formula a while ago, upon application we found it was really emphasizing not so desirable features, like wrinkles and pores, ick! It was just too heavy and too glowy. So despite the absolutely gorgeous texture and feel, we went back to the drawing board. Well, today 9 versions later we have found our concealer! It not only has heavy coverage, but it is not as glowy and it actually de-emphasized the yucky stuff that version 23 was emphasizing! Now we get to try and make the colors perfect so they match our original formula, then you all will get to test drive this lovely new formula! We are just so thrilled that it makes working through the Holiday weekend so worth it!

On another development front, we are putting the finishing touches on our version of a very popular multi-tasker that was reformulated by the seller. One of our lovely customers sent us a few samples of the desired products and we have not only nailed it, but added a Sassy spin and made it better. Now if only we could come up with a name for this little beauty. The original product was a concealer, but given that our concealer foundation is so much more concealing, we haven't come up with a proper name for this product. Any suggestions? If you come up with the  name for our new product we will send you one for free!

Welcome to Sassy Minerals

We have decided it is time to start a blog so we can keep all of you informed about what is going on here at Sassy Minerals.

We are working very hard on a bunch of new products and realize it is taking way longer then we expected. We are down to the last few options for our concealer foundation. Once that is completed we will be working hard to make sure the colors are exactly the same as the regular foundations. Don't you hate it when you find your color and then it is completely different in another formula? So do we!

The brushes and Lipglosses have become a major problem for us. We have had to switch brush manufacturers twice. There just doesn't seem to be consistency between samples. We are hoping we have finally found our manufacturer but only a few rounds of samples will tell if they are going to be able to recreate the brushes to our requirements. We get e-mail every day from one company that seems to be the major supplier to most small companies. It tempting as it is to just go with them since the brushes are super cheap, but we just don't want to compromise for cheap and easy. Plus wouldn't you rather have something new and wonderful rather then just the same old brushes available anywhere?

As for the lipglosses. we hit a slight supplier snag. Our supplier is no longer carrying several of the ingredients we had planned to use, so now we are attacking this two ways, we are trying to find new sources for these ingredients while at the same time testing out some new formulas.  While we are doing that we are choosing what colors to make. My current fave is Over the Garden Gate applied over The Kisser balm. It is subtle and lovely and makes my lips look awesome. Do you have any colors you would love to see turned into a lippie?

It is sad watching so many suppliers cutting back on their product offerings. We understand, this economy is tough, especially for small companies. Larger and larger quantities of raw materials are required to meet manufacturers minimum order sizes, which of course puts a strain on the little guys at the end of the line, like our wholesalers and us. We hope you will understand that we have lots of dreams and ideas, but have to balance them with our ability to get new ingredients in. We have seen many small companies grow too quickly and then suddenly their delivery times are really slow or they just close their doors altogether. We are in this for the long haul so please don't give up on us, we realize we are slow to release new items, but we are never slow to get orders to you. We are doing our best to meet your beauty needs as well as create new items you may have never known you needed.
